Memory Quilts Made from Baby Clothes
Memory quilts from baby clothes are a great way to preserve those beautiful outfits and special occasion clothes!
Quilts can include entire outfits, onsies, socks, booties, bonnets and hats. I have used baby blankets for backing and sashing between blocks in some quilts—very “green” and another way to include precious memories of your tiny one.
Here are photos of quilt blocks laid out on the table, before being sewn together. And next to it is the finished memory quilt with sashing made from the baby’s blanket. The backing and ruffle were made from “minky”, which is an extremely soft fleece.
All kinds of baby clothes can go into a memory quilt
Look at this beautiful ruffled sweater and the sweet embroidered diaper covers in this one!
This quilt includes the tiny newborn knit caps, a first Christmas dress, 1st birthday t-shirt and many other types of clothing.
We even included a first Halloween costume (fairy princess, of course!)
A memory quilt from Baby Boy Clothes and Bibs
This quilt is made up of first-year holiday shirts and matching bibs. I hand-sewed the 2 little blue hats on as well. Below is a photo showing the back of the quilt. The sashing and backing are super-soft “minkie” fleece.
Baby sitting on his quilt!
How adorable is this little guy? His mom commissioned a quilt from his clothes and also had me create French and American flags to signify his dual nationalities. I gave the flags a vintage-y feel to blend well with the tones of the clothing. She thought the quilt was “perfect!”
This memory quilt included sleepwear, dresses, bonnets and socks.
